Welcome letter to the first grade parents from Sra. Reyes

Dear parents/guardians,

I would like to welcome you and your child to my first grade classroom. My name is Angela Troya Reyes and I will be your child’s teacher this year. I have been an immersion teacher for the last 6 years and also worked as an elementary Spanish teacher earlier in my teaching career.

I am eager to get started with this talented group of children and I am confident that I will have an enjoyable and productive year together. As a native of Venezuela, I look forward to sharing my culture and history with you and your child!

Starting a new school year is always a time of anxiety for children and parents, help your child make this transition a pleasant one by incorporating Spanish into your everyday life. Reading daily together, listening to books on tape, or even watching cartoons in Spanish are few of the many activities your child may enjoy during the year. You can also talk to you child about a country where Spanish is spoken or take a virtual tour of the country on the internet. There are a umber of sites on the Internet for reinforcing Spanish; one of our favorites is www.chilola.com.

Throughout the year, there will be many opportunities for parents to volunteer and participate in our classroom.

This year will be a wonderful and adventurous journey and I look forward to sharing it with you. Join us !!!

Sincerely

Sra. Reyes
